Dr. Carsten Krome - CEO and Co-Founder

Carsten worked as a technical analyst for an aquaculture investment fund before launching Alimentos Ventures. He oversaw equity investmentsin various aquaculture feed, health, IT and production start-ups.

He worked as a technical analyst for an aquaculture investment fund where he oversaw equity investments in various aquaculture feed, health, IT and production start-ups before founding HATCH in 2017. Carsten holds a PhD in aquaculture nutrition from the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling, has been a lecturer at Yale University and has a number of published works focusing on alternative feed.

Furthermore, he has co-founded various other successful ventures in the aquaculture space, additionally to a track record in successful IT investments.

Wayne Murphy - COO and Co-Founder

Wayne has a wealth of experience in the management, planning and delivery of global accelerator programmes. He has managed a number of accelerator programs across different sectors including Selr8r, a sales focused accelerator run by SOSV, the Bank of Ireland Accelerator and StartPlanetNI, an accelerator project funded by InvestNI and Northern Ireland’s premier startup programme. Over 950 Startup companies have applied to join these programmes from 55+ countries. He has consulted on various other startup programme, is a mentor @RebelBio and an Advisory Board Member @SXSW. 

He holds a HDip in Business Management & Strategy and is co-founder and CEO of StartPlanet.

Georg Baunach - Development Director and Co-founder

Georg is a molecular biotechnologist with a background in synthetic biology and biofuels research experience from Harvard Medical School. In parallel to his studies he worked on the development of insect and algae based products.

He founded a renewable energy company in Ghana in 2015, which workswith commercial and industrial clients to reduce energy costs throughclean tech. Georg holds a Masters in Management from London BusinessSchool and is passionate about aquaculture and entrepreneurship.

Jeremy McCrohan - Head of Strategic Partnerships

Jeremy worked for several years in the Australian horse racing sector consulting to the biggest players on customer acquisition, strategy and growth, as well as risk management and minimisation. During a period of intense consolidation he worked with and assisted a number of companies at various stages from startups to global players. He has capital raising, transactional and exit experience at an international level and has invested across a number of different sectors.

His broad range of experience means he fulfils a number of roles at Hatch including assisting with the fund setup and capital raising, developing strategic partners and assisting the portfolio companies.

Kai Sato - Entrepreneur in Residence

Kai is a founding partner of Vintage Capital Investments, a venture capital firm focused on early-stage sports technology and media companies. He is also a regular columnist for Inc., the Huffington Post and Entrepreneur Media, where he writes about business, mentorship, and sports technology. Kai dedicates time as a guest lecturer at the University of Southern California and has spoken at various conferences across the country, including South by Southwest (SXSW) in Austin, TX.

Prior to Vintage, Kai co-founded a sports social network called, FieldLevel, that helps high school athletes fulfill their dreams of playing in college. While at FieldLevel, he oversaw all outward-facing aspects of the company, primarily business development, marketing, and sales. In 2013, he was named to the Los Angeles Business Journal’s “Twenty in Their 20’s.”

Emil Lindfors - Norway Representative

Emil is heavily involved in the Bergen aquaculture startup ecosystem. He set up his own AquaTech startup, worked in salmon farming and has extensive event organization and front end programming experience.  


Emil holds a BS in Aquaculture Biology from the University of Bergen and is currently pursuing a MS in Innovation & Entrepreneurship from the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences.

Jamie Stein - Investment Advisor

After working in management consultancy (Bain and Co.) and financial services (St. James’ Place Capital and Russell Investment Group), Jamie established Fonte Capital to support clients who have exceptional engineering expertise, scientific knowledge, or operating know-how. He works closely with them to build pipelines of commercial opportunities and / or to establish relationships with different forms of capital. In some cases, Jamie takes on non-executive positions and invests personally in their businesses.

India Boyer - Dealflow Manager

Indias role is to source, analyse and select early-stage aquaculture startups for the Hatch Accelerator Programme. Previously India worked as an Investment Associate at Passion Capital Investments, an early-stage technology investor based in London, and had direct involvement in 22 deals. She is passionate about sustainable aquaculture and the environment.

India holds a BSc in Ecological Sciences (Hons) from The University of Edinburgh.

Ivan Paladin - Business Intelligence

After working as a financial analyst in New York for 3 years, Ivan attended graduate school at the Norwegian School of Economics, where he specialized in economics of natural resources. Ivan has since worked as a financial analyst foran aquaculture investment fund and completed a second masters degree in international management from CEMS.

Ivan specializes in developing advanced financial models and analysing big data.

Moritz Müller - Head of Marketing and Communications

Moritz takes on all things concerning marketing and communications at HATCH. He is extremely passionate about sustainable aquaculture and has gathered first entrepreneurial experience when he co-founded a marketing agency during his studies in Munich.

Moritz holds a BA in Marketing & Communications Management from the Macromedia University of Applied Sciences in Munich and is currently finishing his MSc in Sustainable Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship at the TU Berlin.
